BloggerTalk Style Tips From Scarlett London | MissPap
We caught up with the gorgeous Scarlett Dixon blogging maven, model and digital manager to find out more about her blogging journey and style advice
WHAT IS YOUR VERY BEST STYLE TIP?
You have to be comfortable in what you're wearing. You have to wear the clothes, not let the clothes wear you - so as long as you feel like 'YOU' in them, you'll pull anything off and be stylish! The best accessory you can wear (wait for the cliche) is your smile. I know it's cringe worthy but it's true! An upbeat person who oozes confidence and positivity automatically looks stylish, regardless of what their ensemble looks like!
WHAT IS THE BEST PART ABOUT BEING A BLOGGER?
When I started blogging, it was because I wanted to be a fashion journalist and I figured having an online portfolio would only help me in my endeavours. As it turned out, I ended up raving about my favourite fashion items rather than writing anything 'CV' worthy - but eventually, it became my job! Being my own boss everyday is extremely rewarding, as I know my future is entirely in my own hands. It's incredible empowering but also pretty scary! I love the creative freedom you have - and the fact you're part of an ever evolving, emerging new fashion world.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BEING AN INSTAGRAMMER AND A BLOGGER?
When I first began blogging, the industry as a whole looked very different. There was no 'Instagram' and so the visuals weren't always the main focus. A blogger is someone who creates more editorial style content, with the written word and photography standing in equal weight. Instagram is much more Instantaneous, it allows another layer of voyeurism - which means we can be even more nosey and look into someone's wardrobe, travel plans and life. I think they cross over a lot though - most Instagrammers have their own blogging platform too!
HOW HAVE BLOGGING OPPORTUNITIES CHANGED OVER TIME?
What was once a place to share beauty tips and fashion advice is now a fully fledged industry where you can make a living from your social channels! It's crazy to have followed the development of it - but I feel so proud to be part of something so exciting! There are so many incredible girl bosses creating fully fledged businesses using only the tools that the digital world has afforded them. Back when I started, there were the occasional events and press days, but now - the opportunities seem to get better and better!
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEBODY WANTING TO BECOME A BLOGGER?
The blogging world is much more saturated than when I started, so it is a little more difficult to find your niche and get noticed - however it is by no means impossible! Try and carve out something a bit different if you can - your niche is largely YOU, so stay true to who you are and showcase your personality as much as possible. Be consistent with your posting - and make sure your best qualities shine through! But don't be afraid to keep it real too - people love the raw #nofilter aspect that blogging also affords. We all need a bit of relatability!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
My style is very mixed, because in some ways I'm quite bohemian, other times a little boyish (my MissPap studded biker boots are a firm favourite) and sometimes I just love dressing in head to toe pink! I'm not overly adventurous with my style but blogging has definitely brought out my creative side! I don't tend to follow trends, I just stick to the shapes and styles I know suit my figure - and then experiment with pattern, texture and colour!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE EDITING APP?
I recently discovered an app called Snapseed, which is so great for tweaking the colours of a picture and making it that little bit more 'Instagram ready'. For example, I always used to get frustrated that my pictures didn't properly show the gorgeous blue of the ocean when I was travelling to these incredible places - for some reason my iPhone dulled the colour and the incredible vibrancy of my surroundings weren't always illustrated correctly. This just boosts all the tones in the picture and makes it more vibrant, colourful and Instagrammable!
WHAT'S YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR SOMEBODY WHO SAYS THEY HAVEN’T GOT A PARTICULAR STYLE?
I don't think it's a bad thing to experiment with style. I love that you can express your mood that day through style - you don't have to stay consistent, changing things up is good! If I'm feeling fun and creative, I'll go for something more daring but on a day where I'm feeling a bit 'meh', I go for the all-black, jeans, biker boots and cropped hoodie combo! Some people wear their heart on their sleeve, I wear mine on my daily outfit choice!
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT FAVOURITE MISSPAP PIECE AND WHY?
The Chelsea Beige Studded Block Heels- anyone who watches my YouTube will know how absolutely obsessed I am with studded block heels - and these are incredible! My favourite designer is Valentino - and these are amazing dupes, perfect for glamming up on holiday - and with the money you save on the high street versions, you can sneak them into your basket in every colour!
WHO IS YOUR CURRENT FAVOURITE FASHION BLOGGER AND WHY?
Ooh I have so many favourites for different reasons. Tamara Kalinic has the most incredible princess-like style, I adore her wanderlust inducing travels and the beautiful high fashion pieces she wears. I also love Claire Chouquette who mixes her bubbly personality and INCREDIBLE walk in closet with her designer fashion tips. And then I also love Lydia Millen, InTheFrow and The Londoner!
